SACRIFICE

A Dani tribeswomen in the Baliem Valley, Papua, Indonesia. You can see her finger have been cut. This is a tradition in the region, to cut a part of your body (fingers, ear lobes) and burry them with your loved ones. I wonder if the pain of death overcomes the pain of cutting your finger off, or is it the other way around?

So I was sitting at the end of the long quiet dock, waiting for the sun to set, camera in hand. These boys show up and start jumping off the dock into the crystal clear water of the Togian Islands. This is exaclty why I travel: because you even if you set yourself up for something extraordinary, somthing even cooler happens. Because you go there for beautiful sights, and end up in beautiful moments.

If this isn’t photoshoped, it’s amazing!

Check out this session I did with a young and talented Montreal artist making amazing custom jewellery. You can find her work at www.facebook.com/bijouxlagace.

Nowhere to go on a hot summer day, this dog just laid down in the middle of the street, on a busy Taiwan corner.

This picture was taken in the Togian Islands, Sulawesi, Indonesia.
